You have heard of a parliament of owls or a murder of crows, what inventive term can you come up with for a group of Dachshunds?

Share with friends and family to see who can come up with the best answer.

Worrying about your hips this beach season, you could take a leaf out of this dogs book.

This is a x-ray we took at Oak Tree with our digital system of a dog with a perfect hip score of 0.

In dogs, hip dysplasia is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its most severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritic joints. It is a genetic trait that is affected by environmental factors and can diagnosed by the hip scoring scheme.

An x-ray, like the one above, is taken and sent to be scored. The scores of each hip are then added together to get an overall hip score for the dog. Scores range from 0 to 106, with the lower the score the better. The advice to breeders is to ideally breed only from dogs which score below the breed average.

So it is a good idea when picking a puppy to check the hip scores of the parents before selecting your new furry friend.
