I just read a really stupid synopsis on tv.com
that claimed Ann B Davis was the comedic star of the show, that Cummings was a "rapidly aging" star, milking this show for his last gasp of glory, and that Cummings, for all his claimed romantic abilities, only received pecks on the cheek. We should all age so well. We should all do as well as Bob with the ladies, who clearly gave him more than pecks on the cheek, although the times wouldn't allow for explicit sexual references. It's not often that you read something that 100% dead wrong. The reviewer obviously was an unnaccomplished would-be playboy who was trying to upgrade his own failures by denigrating a very fine romantic comedy star, probably the best this country as ever produced. Bob Cummings WAS the show and he the sole reason they filmed and broadcast almost 175 episodes, not because, as that dopey reviewer claimed, Ann B Davis carried the show. In the entire history of television, name one other male comedic star who has had the major role in this many episodes. Maybe Jack Benny, but he wasn't the equal of Cummmings, in my opinion.
