WWI was an accidental war that no one wanted, save the few mid-level govt beaurocrats who misled the Kaiser, a weak man who didn't have the guts to put
a stop to Austria's actions against Serbia. Also the widely held but ridiculously inane belief that once a nation began mobilization, nothing on Earth could stop it. We're dealing with some pretty stupid central govts here. If Otto Von Bismark had been allowed to continue guiding Germany's foreign policy, it is a certainty that there would never have been a World War I. Unfortunately, Europe had no one remotely as skilled as Bismark around after Sarajevo.
