Sooo... I may have done something a little crazy...

I finally bit the bullet and bought a water cooling kit. At the same time I was in the market for a new GPU and I thought: why not combine the two?

I bought the MSI GTX 1070 EK Seahawk edition, which was available under a really great deal on Overclockers.co.uk, especially considering it ships with the EK waterblock factory installed!

So, we finally get to see what LG and Valve have been up to!

First thoughts:

Positives: slightly higher resolution, a more comfortable head band and the ability to flip up the screen without taking the whole thing off.

Negatives: no new "grippy" controllers that were demoed at the Steam dev day? Wand controllers look uglier than the Vive counterparts - maybe they're just placeholders and it'll ship with the new controllers?

Unknown: will it be possible to buy just the headset and controllers at launch and use an existing lighthouse setup you have?

I have two hundred rapidly decreasing in value pounds of birthday money to spend... My first thought was to try and bag myself a 1070, but they're about £400 here in the UK. So much for that idea, maybe I'll wait to see what happens when AMD release Vega later in the year.

So, in the meantime, I thought I would finally splash out (pun intended) on some water cooling gear. Turns out, that's bloody expensive as well! Anyway, I found this starter kit on Overclockers, which is slightly more than 200, but not by an obscene amount. Before I buy the gear, I thought I would check in with you guys to see what you think?

Loving the extra desk space afforded to me by switching to a single display for my rig. I've been enjoying House of the Dying Sun today, which is a nice arcade-y change from Elite.

OK, so I have my new display... And an extra Vive lighthouse so I can play seated experiences in the office without having to move one of the original two I have mounted in the lounge.

I will report back once I've tested out the screen, thanks for all the input peeps!

Looking to replace my surround setup since VR provides the immersive experience now... Problem is, I've been agonising over what to get as a replacement. I thought about the ultra wide, but that seems a little too rich for me (budget is around £500).

Any thoughts? So far I'm torn between:
