This offbeat family of robot makers are the real deal. They've been making robots and other scientific exhibits for museums for years. Now they want to create an educational web series showing their work and humor.

Sylvia is an amazing young lady and has been invited to meet the President of the United States, demonstrate her awesome water color printer robot, and share her thoughts on encouraging girls to get into science and tech. Help her out with a donation if you can.

Hi Andrew

My name is Tim Williams; I run a Website development company. We are presently in the process of creating a large Instructional ''How To'' Website, which will enable our members to uploaded step-by-step, do-it-yourself projects, which other users can view and comment on. Members will be able post instructions to their projects accompanied by visual aids, including photos, diagrams, text and video to illustrate important points or concepts.

The site will include a wide array of project categories; our core objective is to create the largest free informational Website on the Internet. In the coming week we will be launching phase 1, which will enable members to begin uploading projects, in an effort to pre populate the site before it goes live in approximately 7 weeks.

The site will provide each member with a home page, from which they will be able to discuss, their areas of interest, as well as offer links to their personal or corporate websites. We will also include forums and a range of additional features.

We are looking for members with all types of skills, as our objective is to house the webs largest community of people that like to make, create and build things. We feel that the area of general technology will be a very important part of the sites development and would like to invite you to include a single or series of instructional ''How To'' projects. The choice of project is entirely your decision from a basic project, thorough to the more complex, the choice is yours.

I really like what you are doing with the kids, it would be really cool to get them involved. If you would like to participate in this exciting new undertaking, please return email and I will contact you again once we are ready to begin the first phase.

If you have any friends or colleagues that you feel may wish to contribute, please feel free to forward this email.

Kindest Regard

Tim Williams

Sharing some thoughts about the desire to make. Completely inspired by the people who attended our robot making workshops at Maker Faire.

I'm working with Chris from Rocket Brand Studios to enhance his Tadpole Educational robot kit with some designs that operate without a microcontroller, inspired by the SpurtBot designs from Rostock University and my own work in this area.
Here's the first configuration: A Line Follower

The guys from Rostock University in Germany put together this nice instructional video for the SPURT robot project. It's in German, but you'll get the idea. More info at http://spurt.uni-rostock.de
I also posted my own version of this robot on Instructables at http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-SpurtBot-Line-Follower/
