NEAF for 2015 is here.  We will be off to setup another classic telescope display.  Last years was very successful.  We hope to have even more items to see this year.

I just updated the "Cave Tapes" to include the full tapes.  There are now 4 1/2 hours of an interview with Tom Cave and Barry Kawa from around 1993.

We're off to NEAF telescope show in New York on Thursday!   We will have over 18 classic telescopes including my Cave 10" cassegrain, a 10" chrome deluxe, F/8 8" deluxe model B (I will be picking it up to go home with me) and even a 12.5" Cave transportable Monster!  If your near Suffern, NY, come to the show.

Also, I just picked up a very rare 6" richfield Cave telescope from Australia!  Pics to follow:

Well, I just completed another article for the Cave website.  This time it is a story of two 12" Observatory models  written by John Biggs the resident astronomer at Hut Observatory.  "A Tail of Two 12.5" Observatory model D"

I just added an article about Barry Crist miniature telescope maker on the Cave-astrola website.  He was kind enough to make me a model of a 10" deluxe chrome Cave.  He's under "What's New"

I've added a very special section to the website.  I acquired an interview from a writer Barry Kawa.  He interviewed Tom Cave in 1997.  After writing an article for my website, he agreed to let me have the tapes and to post the audio on the site.  Follow Tom Cave as he described his early years and his first telescope.  He also talks about his father and his first job at Heron Optical.  I also have audio of Tom talking about his products and his competitors.  I have about 5 hours that I will be processing and posting on the site.  Enjoy.

I recently returned from New York after attending NEAF telescope show.  I was also there to pick up a new classic telescope, a 1975 Cave 10" f/6 Custom Super Deluxe. I just posted a slideshow with images of this scope.  It is before any restoration. Follow the link below.  Once there the  link for the slideshow is on the top left column.

I purchased a few letters and documents from a gentleman who's grandfather had a little run in with Thomas Cave getting a few eyepieces sent out.  Also, the price list sent with the letters from Cave and an envelope from the Cave Optical Company.

John Higbee puts his slant on a 12.5" Cave "Hubble" F/8 Transportable in a new restoration article on the Cave-astrola website.  John will be eventually using this large Cave for a new observatory in Virginia.  Here is the link:
