Leonor Fini
i always imagined i would have a life very different from the one that was imagined for me , but i understood from a very early time that i would have to revolt in order to make that life . now i am convinced that in any creativity there exists this element of revolt

Leonor Fini (1907 – 1996)
Born in Buenos Aires to Italian and Argentine parents, Leonor grew up in Trieste, Italy, raised by her strong-willed, independent mother, Malvina. She was a virtually self-taught artist. Her career, which spanned some six decades, included painting, graphic design, book illustration, product design, and set and costume design for theatre, ballet, opera, and film.

"The dismissive and condescending attitude toward any black people who see blackness differently than she does is woven throughout her comments in our conversation. It is not just our pettiness, it is also our lack of education that is preventing us from getting on Dolezal's level of racial understanding. She informs me multiple times that black people have rejected her because they simply haven't learned yet that race is a social construct created by white supremacists, they simply don't know any better and don't want to: "I've done my research, I think a lot of people, though, haven't probably read those books and maybe never will." "The main condition holding them back, Desmond argues, is rent. The standard measure is that your rent should be no more than 30% of your income, but for poor people it can be 70% or more. "

"Any kind of trouble that brings the police can lead to eviction, which means women can lose their homes if they call 911 when their man beats them up. Think about that the next time someone asks why women don’t call the cops on violent partners."
