Learners to be allowed on Motorways, what's the point!

So from 2018 provisional licence holders will be allowed on UK motorways as long as they are accompanied by a DVLA approved instructor using a dual controlled vehicle, but the driving test will still not include motorway driving.

My experience shows that over 90% of my pupils will not pay for a lesson to cover anything that will come up on the test even if it will keep them safe. This is evidenced by the number of people that take up Pass Plus once they get a full licence.

So my question is what is the point of allowing learners on the motorway if you are not going to test them on it? Sure there will be a few who will use the opportunity to gain motorway experience with a professional instructor, but I'm not convinced there is going to be any large benefit to this move by the DVSA.

Are you a provisional licence holder, let me know your thoughts, I would also like to hear from other ADIs on what they think the uptake would be.

It is never too late to learn!
I have written a few times on my blog giving advise to the not so young on how to deal with the challenges of passing the UK driving test.

Today while walking to my local shops, I met one of my former elderly pupils at a junction in her car. We said hello briefly, and before I knew it, she was gone, pulling of in a suitable gap in the traffic! This was something she would not have done even on the day of her test preferring to wait till there were no cars.

It just goes to show that you CAN make it if you don't give up. It might cost you more money but the benefits stay for as long as you live.

So no matter what it is that you are having problems achieving, keep working on it. I remember a speaker called Mark Chirona once say 'If the dream is big enough, the facts don't count!'

The DVSA will never email you to claim a refund. More likely they will never contact you at all to give you back Money!!

Now that summer is here, make sure your number plates are clean and meet the DVSA regulations as it is an offence under the road traffic act.

Think where you park your car!
The Highway code which many drivers seem to ignore gives advice on this matter, not only putting other road users in Danger!

Having passed the driving test does not mean that you can now ignore rules that would have caused you to fail while being assessed by a DVSA examiner.

The examples below can not be excused!

Under 17 and driving on private property. Yes you don't need a licence and thus can legally allow your 15 yr old son or daughter to be in charge of a vehicle on private land, but you might need insurance! Read the article below for full details of the rules.
