I went to the Paul Mitchel School in Charlotte with 2 of my roommates on 2/7 and all 3 of us experienced horrible results. These students have no idea what they are doing! My stylists matched me with the wrong hair color causing my hair to come out 2 shades darker and she didn't properly wash out the hair color from my roots. We booked our appointments at 2:30 and they weren't done until 5:30. My stylist didn't even properly style my hair because she claimed she didn't have enough time. You know you received a horrible service when you come home and you rush in the shower to wash your hair because there's dried gunk stuck in your hair from the hair color. It was nasty. One of my other roommates has African American hair and they had no idea how to work with that. Also, their hair treatments leave your hair really dry. Save your money and see a professional, at Paul Mitchel they have no idea what they are doing.

After reading some of the negative reviews, I was nervous to use my already purchased Groupon. In fact, if I had not already purchased the Groupon and (easily) made the appointment, I might not have gone. I arrived about 10 minutes early and was immediately told it might be a bit of a wait. Uh oh. But then, the floor manager came back and said that they could take me right away. So back we went and I met Josh. I almost don't want to give out his name - because I want him to be MINE alone :) Josh and I discussed cut and color and along with his direct supervisor came to a decision. He took his time and gave me the best haircut I've had since moving from DC back in 2000. No joke. In fact, I waited to write this review until I washed it out (I have curly hair and he had straightened it), to make sure it wasn't just looking good because my hair was straight. But, no, the cut is amazing! The color is also perfecto - just what I asked for: natural, slightly gold/warm in tone and covering the grey. The only con is that it took over 3 hours! But for such a great cut and color, I'll just book earlier in the day next time. My friend in DC said that her stylist routinely takes 3 hours because he is an 'artist' (and she pays upward of $180). I'll put Josh in that same 'artist' category. He also recommended coming in another time to get a $8 Keratin treatment (basically a deep, deep conditioning). I've seen this same treatment offered anywhere from $60 to $100! Thank you, Josh :) I'll see you soon.

Bought a Groupon several months ago and could never get an appointment. Everytime I called they had no openings and when I asked about walk-in's, I was told they don't take them - even though the website said they did. After seeing other reviews here about the school, I am happy they couldn't see me!

Initially, I would have said it was a good experience and that I liked it. I even tipped the stylist in training. However, I requested 3 inches off of my hair and the stylist cut nearly 6! Fine... I let that go... it will grow back. Then the next day I washed and flat ironed my hair, to see that it was cut at a very noticible angle. It is much longer on the right side than it is on the left side. I did not notice this at the time, due to the way she styled it.... I would like to get this corrected, however they are closed on Sundays and Mondays and as a customer there is no way to leave a voicemail, as it's just a looped recorded message when you call. Very unprofessional... as the instructors were coming over, looking, and they didn't notice or say anything. Now, I have to go spend even more money, to have someone fix a hair cut that I don't even like. Do not waste your time here... thinking that you will save money! Jennifer Jones

The stylist destroyed my hair. I asked for long layers and a voluminous style. She chopped off 6 inches, gave me rounded layers without asking, and flattened it pin straight. She also cut a chunk of hair to my scalp that I didn't notice until later. I DO NOT recommend this school.

I would give this below poor but it isnt an option. I purchased the groupon for a haircut and went yesterday 6/27 to get it done. I got a stylist named Jasmine and she didnt know anything much and she is set to graduate in November and I dont see how someone so far along in their classes can be that bad. I had her and 3 different instructors working on my head the whole 2hrs I was there. The instructors as well as Jasmine messed my head up. I had longer strips of hair in the back, it was uneven, my layers were all jacked up and my right side in the front was longer than my left. I didnt find all this out until 6/28 because I wasnt paying them $12 to flat iron my hair. So I had to go to another salon and the lady fixed it as best as she could but I have a ton of layers now. So if you are looking for a jacked up haircut and more than likely you will not have a groupon so it will be an expensive jacked up cut then this is the place for you. I wouldnt recommend my worse enemy going here. I am just thankful I wasnt getting highlights or a color done because I probably would have ended up with no hair. Also if the instructors are messing peoples hair up this should be sign enough to stay way.
