Tenor Workshop Opportunity

The Stuart Highlanders are pleased to host Kyle Heaney, tenor drummer with the World Champion Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, for a small workshop. The focus will be on both rhythm and flourishing. Details Below:

Date: Saturday, March 21st, 2015
Time: 1-4PM
Where: Stuart Highlanders Band Hall
219 Middlesex Ave
Wilmington, MA 01887
Cost: $25 for the session

Apologies for the short notice. Originally, we were hoarding Kyle all to ourselves. However, since world champions aren't always in town, we decided to share and open this opportunity up to some of the local players as well. You can email Brian@stuarthighlanders.com if you would like to attend.

We've all heard the phrase 'practice smarter, not harder,' but what does that really mean? What does 'smarter' practice actually look like? A study of collegiate piano majors suggests that the key lies in how we handle mistakes.

The Stuart Highlanders Pipe Band is proud to announce that Dalton Hanaway is the recipient of this year's Archie MacLeod Memorial Scholarship! Dalton is a piper in the Grade 1 band and has been working hard to perform at the highest level of both band- and solo competitions. This is Dalton's second year in the band and we certainly regard him as one of our up-and-coming stars!

The Archie MacLeod Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a Stuart Highlanders band member, in memory of Archie MacLeod (seen below), the band's first pipe major and principal instructor—positions he held for 35 years—and the father of snare drummer Donald MacLeod: the $500 scholarship may be used at any piping and drumming school, workshop, or for private lesson tuition.

New England's Premier Pipe Band Organization
Introduction
Welcome to the Google+ home of the Stuart Highland Pipe Band ("Stuart Highlanders"), Massachusetts' premier pipe-band organization. Since 1964, the Stuart Highland Pipe Band of Wilmington, Massachusetts, has entertained audiences throughout the Boston area, the Eastern United States, and Canada.

The Stuart Highlanders are available to perform for your parade, festival, or other event as a full bagpipe band, in small groups such as trios or quartets, or as individual performers.

The organization is made up of three bands, in grades 1, 4, and 5 of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA). The grade 1 band is led by Pipe Major Adam Holdaway and Drum Sergeant Scott Fletcher; the grade 4 band is led by Pipe Major Kevin Wisehart and Drum Sergeant Brian Morgan; and the grade 5 band is led by Pipe Major Kevin Glynn and Drum Sergeant Ewan Conant.
