Recipe: Quick Strawberry Jam, Food Allergy Free
“Too acidic. Too many. About to turn.” That’s what I saw when I looked at the huge clamshell of
organic Driscoll strawberries that I purchased at Costco recently. What to do
with them? Easy. Make a quick jam. Also called a refrigerator jam, these are made w...

A stunning show that moved me to tears. These shoes in particular, behind the paper and sewn in with surgical string - plus the rose petals - I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the images of humanity and loss created by this incredible artist. Be forewarned - you will be moved.  Review: Doris Salcedo’s Forceful Political Art in Guggenheim Retrospective @nytimes http://nyti.ms/1dJM7k2

Absolutely hauntingly beautiful and moving. I can only imagine the dead smiling with redemption that this woman kept their dark yet necessary memory alive. Thank you, Sloane for sharing. I hope you don't mind if I share, too...these need to be seen.

Food Allergy Counseling: Confronting Versus Avoiding Your Food Allergy Fears

These luscious pictures of food on my FB feed are examples of my answer to the perennial question:

"Well, what do you eat if you're allergic to X,Y and Z?!"

My answer is always, " I eat everything! Just not the things I'm allergic to."

The world of food is large - and making good looking, delicious food that's safe for you is a reminder of all thing yum things you can eat.

My beautiful steak salad lunch just now. Steak was on sale Whole Foods Market, so I fried a 3-ounce one up, while I put some baby organic arugula with fresh lemon juice, EVOO, plus Kosher salt in a bowl. I cooked the steak for a few minutes on each side then removed from heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Sliced and plated et voila - lunch!

Kind words from a ‪#‎foodallergy‬ counseling client: "Your coaching and support has really helped me to understand that food allergies are a part of their lives but it does not define them."

"The natural tendency would be to avoid the situation that is causing discomfort i.e. cancel the lunch. But that wouldn’t make me feel less anxious, it would simply keep me home, alone and anxious. I’ve done that many times; many years of my life were spent avoiding the scary thing. But here and now, I did the opposite: I confronted the anxiety head on and shared it, out loud."
