New Vistas
In my last post , I was about to go to a couple of interviews for practicum placements, and I said that I might have an offer on the table by the end of that interview day. I did. And I accepted without hesitation! My university, once I had informed them of...

Around the Bend
I like to be able to see a clear path ahead. I like to know what is coming so that I have time to prepare. I like it, but it doesn't often happen. There are bends in the road. Where I live, the members of my family joke about how the designers of the roads ...

Hating Waiting
I hate waiting. That's probably why I spend so much time doing it, I joke. But the joking is wearing thin right about now. It seems that the last few years, all I have been doing is waiting: waiting for the next university course, the next blood test, the n...

I had an interview this past Friday for a practicum placement for my Masters degree in Counselling. They want me! The next step is getting the approval of the board, based on the recommendation of the director and the prospective supervisor. That process should take about 2 weeks, so I guess I wait again, but with more confidence than before. Hopefully I will hear news quickly (that is, hopefully the board members will all be able to meet and discuss this sooner rather than later...) And for now, I just wait.

If it's a go, I will start on September 5th, 2018 and be working there three days a week (unpaid) for eight months. It will mean I'll have to dip into my savings, but I believe it will be worth it!

Do Not Cross
One of the things I have been learning since 2009, when I embraced a lifestyle of acceptance and freedom from the need to control people by either intimidation, manipulation, or care-giving, is the concept of boundaries. I didn't know that boundaries even e...

2017 in review - Gratitude month by month
Every December 31, I take the calendar out and transfer birthdays, anniversaries, and appointments onto the next year's calendar before storing the current year's calendar away (I have calendars going back several years, which would come in handy were I eve...

You lost me
I was in the middle of responding to a co-worker's question about my personal life. It had been a while since we talked and she was eager to hear about how things were going, particularly for my brother.  I was telling her how well he was doing compared to ...

The Sounds of Silence
I've spent most of the day feeling quite down.  Aside from the fact that I have been concerned about someone I can't seem to reach for some reason, or maybe because of that (in part), someone reminded me this morning of that gnawing feeling in the pit of my...

Another night with the frogs
The title of this post has become a common saying between my husband and me over the last thirty-odd years of marriage.  It refers to the story of Moses and the ten plagues, when God was in the process of freeing His people from slavery in Egypt.  One of th...

"I will build My church"
It's now been over two years since my husband and I decided to leave the organization that is commonly known as the 'church'. When I tell people that we don't "go to church" anymore, I often see raised eyebrows, and very rarely do I get anything but judgmen...
