I thought I'd share this screenshot of the production I'm currently working on. This shot shows a day-night transition in lower Manhattan. Eventually it will be displayed at a whopping 42K horizontal resolution (15 metres wide) on an array of curved Oled screens. If you look really close you can clearly see the top of the Empire State Building peeking out from behind the buildings in the center.

Will try to post more from this project as work progresses, and we visit some more interesting locations :-)

I keep forgetting to post here on Google+ about the new series of 4K cinemagraphs I'm creating in collaboration with +ray collins. Unfortunately G+ doesn't seem to allow me to upload video content, so you'll have to click on the image to watch it :-/

You may (or may not) remember a clip I posted from South Africa back in June. That's when we were filming at Sea Star Rocks, an amazing new boutique hotel in Camps Bay, South Africa. I finally finished the edit yesterday and this is the result!

Here's a quick tip on how to create dramatic color images with Tonality CK by MacPhun. But wait, I hear you say, isn't Tonality a black & white processing application? That's right, but you can actually use it in a color workflow as well. The image above was created by processing the original (bottom left) in Tonality to create a dramatic black & white version (bottom right). I then overlayed this new version with the original in Photoshop, and set the blend mode of the original to "color". This means Photoshop will take the color from the original image, but the brightness values from the black & white version, creating a subtle but at the same time dramatic look. This is just a quick example that took only a few minutes by the way, so imagine the possibilities if you take some time to create a really great black & white conversion.

MacPhun is running a special deal at the moment where you can get Tonality plus a ton of other software and video tutorials for a great price. You can get it here: http://macphun.evyy.net/c/151940/280234/3255
