This summer, I made the brave/stupid decision to pick up a 35mm film for the first time in over 12 years. Why? I hear some of you asking. Hipster cool? Some nostalgic romanticism? The answer needs some explaining, but it … Continue reading →

Basic Information
I was recommended the fine gentlemen at Punk Bikes by a friend who told me, "You will love them, they have crazy ideas just like you!" and on that recommendation, I decided to give them a look in. I ride a DK "General Lee" BMX cruiser class. It was a pretty rare bike as it is, so I was always skeptical taking it to anyone, as I love it soooooo much. I had damaged the crank pretty badly and broken one of my pedals, so my intention was to get the PB crew to fix the crank and give "The General" (as it is know) a once over, general service, you know the score. I called into the shop after work one day, explain what I wanted done, but I was greeted with a rush of enthusiasm, "I know just the crank, it will look sick! We could change the tires to something super fat, orange pedals to match the frame..." Some people might consider this approach a hard sell, but those people are idiots. I went in for a crank and pedal repair, I came out with: Monstrous new crank. Pedals that matched my frame perfectly. New fat tires, that a previous shop had told me wouldn't fit.. Awesome brakes pads and lines. And a sickeningly cool gold(ish) half link chain. I loved "The General" when it went in, I really did, it was an incredible bike, but after Punk Bikes had worked their magic...incredible doesn't do it justice. Everything was better than I could even begin to imagine. Think for one second about something you already think is perfect, now make it better! That's what they did for me and my bike. I've subsequently gone back to them again and again with my other bikes, and a new project every now and then. Super awesome guys, who do super awesome work. Couldn't recommend them enough.
