Just brilliant engineering:

They didn't try to replicate the human hand, they found a completely different way to do it.

"The coffee-filled balloon presses down and deforms around the desired object, and then a vacuum sucks the air out of the balloon, solidifying its grip. When the vacuum is released, the balloon becomes soft again, and the gripper lets go."

Liquid Drop Art

----------------------------------

Corrie White isn't like any other macro photographer. Sure, like many others she has a love for water drops but her passion doesn't stop there. In fact, White pushes creative boundaries, challenging herself to create new and interesting forms. She even introduced the three drop splash which had never been done before. It's hard to believe that she's only been doing this the past two years since her images have now been spread around the world thanks to newspapers in the UK, magazines, BBC World Brazil, and the 2010 Ripley's Believe It or Not.

Check out her work and you'll almost swear that you're looking at small glass sculptures. Using milk, water and her Canon EOS 50D camera, White almost fools us into believing we're admiring everyday objects like tops, bells, hats, dishes, mushrooms, umbrellas and carousels.
