Maven With JRuby on CentOS -

I've had this problem with my Maven builds on CentOS for a while now. My project uses SASS for stylesheet simplification, and that requires a couple of Ruby gems to build. If you have a similar project/environment, you are likely to see this when Maven runs:

_WARNING: JRuby does not support native extensions or the `mkmf' library.
Check http://kenai.com/projects/jruby/pages/Home for alternatives._

Solution:

You'll need a few things on your server. First make sure you have git, ant, and gcc:

sudo yum install -y git ant gcc

Then, in some useful source directory of your choosing, clone the JRuby repo (use sudo if you chose /usr/local/src like I did):

git clone git://github.com/jruby/jruby.git
cd jruby
ant clean jar cext
Then run your Maven build again. Should work just fine. =)
