Ruby’s Diner offers a glimpse back to the 1940s. Bright red vinyl booths, white Formica tables, soda fountains, Coca-Cola posters, milkshakes, burgers and American Diner fare echo the swing era.

Worst Rubies ever! I went with a group ( 8 kids 4 parents), we signed in 1/2 hour before close. They accommodated us as the last patrons of the evening. We had to go up and ask for kids menus and we were given 1 for every 4 kids to share. Our orders were taken and it was obvious they were in a hurry to get us out of there. All Ice cream floats and shakes had to be served before dinner. The First order of fries (for one of the parents) were brought out almost immediately but they were cold and sent back. All the orders were brought out except mine. All I ordered was the Classic ruby burger. When everyone else's food arrived. The waiter tried to ignore me then sheepishly came up to tell me my order was forgotten. (It's not like we asked for a bunch of separate checks) Mine came as most were finishing their meal. The burger was overdone and tasted like all the juice had been squeezed out of it as if they were trying to make it cook faster. The bun tasted of rubber as if they had microwaved it with a wet paper towel to make it moist. I received no fries but a fruit cup and was told the frier was drained and cleaned early, when I expressed my disappointment that I didn't get fries let alone refillable fries, my inedible burger was removed from the check. If it had been only my family I would have had a serious conversation with the manager as this experience will be a dark day in Ruby history. I doubt I will go back to this location.

30 minute wait well worth it. Hot fresh food came about 5 minutes after ordering. Understaffed for the evening but so well organized that you could not tell. Food is amazing, every bite better then the last. I recommend the cajun fries. I do not reccomend the restroom, it was gross, unstocked and needing attention.

Hot food, plenty of ranch sauce, as many milkshake options as anyone has a right to request, and friendly service. Also, the view is incredible from all angles. If you're on the beach... go ahead and swing by. It's pretty sweet.

Best part was the long walk on the pier! No joke, the service and food were terrible. Restaurant was very humid, musty smelling, and food was soaking in grease. Overpriced and over rated, cool motif throughout restaurant though.

Awesome American food for reasonable price right on the Oceanside Pier. Highly recommended!

Loved the vintage, old-style feel of this diner. It's like eating in a classic movie diner set. Nostalgic decor comes complete with the "classic" Coca Cola bottle and logo plastered all over everything with red & white trim to boot. Look for traditional good-ole American Burgers & Fries here and finish the dish with a milkshake. Do NOT come here looking for "health" food and if anything, I recommend coming here on a 'cheat day'. Hehehee Seriously speaking though, the menu is very basic (as it should be) and the waitresses are cute in their vintage outfits as they politely serve you with a smile. The only real 'con' to this establishment is the wait-time. I STRONGLY recommend calling ahead of time to reserve a table; as this place is always crowded because it's a local pier favorite.
