Wifey suggested this place one Saturday after watching an afternoon play at The Ensemble Theater. Great choice, babe. It was really an early dinner so the restaurant was not crowded but there were enough patrons to make us feel like this was going to be a safe choice. The waitstaff seated us right away and were extremely pleasant and accommodating. It didn't take long to review the menu so we were served fairly quickly. My wife had the jerk chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. Buyer beware, this is a half a chicken, not a quarter. That being said, once you taste how perfectly seasoned it is, you won't have much trouble finishing it. The chicken was succulent and tasty but maybe just a tiny little bit undercooked. My sides were identical to my wife's with the exception of the plantains. The oxtails were extremely good. The flavor was nothing extraordinary and they were somewhat small. However, it left me wanting more. I actually could have eaten a double portion and dealt with the consequences later. On the way out we ordered and shared a pineapple smoothie. What a great way to end a terrific meal. If there was one complaint it is about the parking. Being in a strip mall on Westheimer, the parking is tight and limited. A potential complaint would be that there is apparently a band that comes in on weekend nights. I can't imagine that makes for a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant is very narrow and small so a live band must make conversation nearly impossible. Maybe they play really quietly. But that is not enough not to want to find out. Maybe that will be our next date night. All in all, we love the place. I hope Jamaica House expands and makes their way out to the Woodlands.

Our 2nd visit today. 1st time I Ordered the Jerk Ribs. The meat fell off the bone. No fat. Was very good. Wife ordered these pocket things, filled with chicken. She liked them as well. The food was amazing! We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert. Tasted like the sauce was made with rum, and today I confirmed it was real rum. It was heavenly. Today I ordered the oxtails, and was also amazing! The service was a little on the disappointing side on 1st visit (forgot place settings, had to ask for refills, etc), but they were very friendly and nice. Today's 2nd visit service was perfect! The only complaint I still have is the very warm room temperature. Obviously the temps are not an issue as the place is packed each time we go. We will definitely continue to go back!

I ordered the oxtails (which are not on the menu) and they were delicious! Well seasoned tender and not too fatty. The oxtails were so authentic that they had the thyme stems and all spice in the gravy! Great flavor! I had a beef patty that was ok but they served it with bbq sauce... wasnt too sure about that. Price was a little steep but well worth it.
