The drinks and food were yummy. My wife's fried green tomato salad with crab was a welcome treat to my discerning partner. While the lunch crowd was lacking, the laid back classy atmosphere was refreshing after the high energy (loud) settings that appear to be the current trend in our urban restaurants. Service was slow at first, while we were waiting for our drinks, but got better as the meal progressed. All in all a great lunch.

Out of this world cuisine. Obviously done by a chef who is working on another level. This made for a wonderful birthday dinner. Our server, Kris, was also fantastic. He helped us through the menu, was patient, and really helped make the experience memorable. HIGHLY recommended! The lobster poutine and fried green tomato plates were to die for.

First time customer and last time customer too. I'd like to consider myself a person that enjoys food for flavor and never to just fill my stomach. That being said I went into this very excited about the possibilities of the food ahead. From walking in it felt like a place that was a bit in need of a makeover. However decor ultimately is never my main concern but more so the food placed before me. We started our night off with the CORNMEAL CRUSTED OYSTERS dish, which wasn't all that bad but certainly did not have that rich oyster flavor you look for in a fried oyster. Could of been one of many things under all the sauce and chutney. From there we tried the SAUTÈED CALAMARI, the YUZU SAKE BUTTER broth the sliced rings were in was by far the best part of the dish and probably the most flavor aspect of the entire night. The biggest problem with this dish was that some of the calamari was pretty tough and chewy. For entrees we went with the KOREAN BARBEQUE SPICE RUBBED GRILLED FILET OF BEEF TENDERLOIN, BRAISED SHORT RIB DUMPLING, CELERY ROOT RAMP PEAR KIMCHI, MUSHROOM PEANUT FRIED BAMBOO RICE, MISO MUSTARD VINAIGRETTE, YUZU SOY STAR ANISE BARBEQUE . . . and the COFFEE MOLE CHILE CRUSTED TUNA, ROCK SHRIMP YUCCA CORN SOFRITO RAGOUT, TAMARIND VANILLA RUM GLAZED PLANTAINS, CARAMELIZED PINEAPPLE HABANERO VINAIGRETTE. Sounds pretty amazing! Both dishes read extremely well but neither followed through on taste or presentation. Both of these dishes were very underseasoned and very bland. The dishes looked and tasted like something you would expect to get at a wedding reception dinner. Everything on the Tuna plate had the same texture to it and all the same color. This dish was by far the most disappointing of the entire night. The Filet dish was a little better overall but still had major issues. Like several bites had gristle throughout and the meat was not very tender. I really hate to complain and this is my first review I've ever written online, but I really felt compelled to share my experience. At the end of the day you expect an elevated dish when you spend the type of money an establishment like this garners. I work very hard for my money and It sucks to throw it away on food that leaves you so unsatisfied. I hope this helps you make your decision on if this place is worth the risk on your wallet. I love great food and there was nothing great about the food I ate at Mise En Place.

My expectations were really high with the way everyone talked this place up, and I have to admit my experience fell short. We went on a Friday night at 7:30 and the place was practically empty. Surprising as it is tourist season. Ambiance is nice and the segmentation of the rooms provides for the feeling of privacy in a large space. I got a little turned off by the menu when I saw mac and cheese with lobster and Kobe beef on the menu. I don't go out to nice restaurants to order something that is usually sold in a box and made in a microwave. Also, real Kobe beef is only available in Japan. It is illegal to export it from the country. The stuff sold in the US is just marketing BS, and is no where near the true Kobe quality. So both these thing I felt were kitschy and disappointed me. We had the soft shell crab and scallops for appetizers and they were good but not great. The scallops were cooked perfectly but lacked substance. They were too petite and not as described by the waiter as "Sea Scallops" they were large bay scallops at best. The soft shell crab was tasty but the large grain batter fought with the texture of the soft shell crab ruining the dish by making the crab chewy. Good but not great. For the entry we had the Duck and a Sauteed Snapper. The Duck was cooked a bit over medium rare and tasty but again not excellent. The snapper was over cooked and the sauce was horrible over salted. To the point where I could not eat it. The pecan mouse dessert was great and the wine selection was really nice, but I really wanted the place to be more then it was. I liken this place to Bern's Steak house where the reputation out weighs the true quality of the food. I might go again if pressured but definitely not on my own.

All the positive reviews we found true and NONE of the negative reviews warranted. If you are looking for Carraba's or Macaroni Grill well this is not the place. If you are looking for a dining experience that "lights up" your palate then by all means Mise en Place is just the spot. Service was attentive even though it was busy. This type of restaurant is not a rush but rather to savor the ambience and dining pleasure.

I was not happy with the food, it was ok, but our dinners were cold and our server did not come back to our table after the dinner was served.. For being a nice restaurant I thought it was over rated.

Our service started out very good with a team of two. The first two courses were excellent! i would highly recommend the charcuterie platter. Then the entree arrived, and the was the last time we saw the waitor until we had to wave him down. The duck and venison were outstanding; the steaks on the other hand were mediocre to poor. Neither the filet nor the Kobe strip were seasoned.
