Mars Academy students visited the Museu de Astronomia e Ciências Afins with Patrícia Figueiró Spinelli in Rio de Janeiro. The Museum is over 13 miles away from the City of God, and this was the first time the students did such an activity!

Today, we are able to study the universe in many colors that can’t be seen with our eyes. From detecting X-rays, to listening to the radio universe, we are able to use digital detectors to “see” hidden aspects of distant objects. In this Hangout, we will review the electromagnetic spectrum.

Light has now its very own educational kit thanks to the International Astronomical Union and the ‪#‎IYL15‬ Light 2015

The kit features continued support for teaching communities around the world, and a special component designed for children with visual impairments.

This month, the #Hubble Space Telescope turns 25. Besides the many beautiful images it's given us from space, it has also helped astronomers estimate the age of the universe - around 14 billion years old. And there's still a lot to peer into until it retires, in 2018.
