Sometimes, communicating with your #ESL  students can be really tough! Especially when you are trying to tell a story or do an activity in class. So, is there a special technique to talk to your students? Maybe, maybe not, if there is, this is probably it!

How can ping-pong balls control my class? Well, we're glad you asked! Actually in a few #ESL  classrooms, ping-pong balls have been used as a reward system. The balls are collected for good behaviour and put into a box. When the box is full, the class is rewarded with a #freeclass

Want to know what works when it comes to #ESLsongs ? We do too! That's why we asked a fellow TEFL teacher what he does when it comes to song!

1.Teach the sentence structure prior to listening.
2.Read through the song together.
3.Play the song once and just listen.
4.Read through the song with the same rhythm and tempo, but do not sing.
5.Listen again and quietly sing to yourself.
6.I sing (So bad, just so bad, but needs to be done.)
7.We all sing along to the song together.
8.5 minutes group work to make a production.
9.15 minutes to watch what they’ve made.
10.Sing again at the end.

What's on your #Christmaslist ? Finding out what your ESL students want for Christmas is great fun for everyone. Make a Santa delivery bag and send it to the place where all the magic happens, well, not really but it's the fun that counts!
Get them to write what they want and why they deserve it in a letter format, addressed #santaclaus , then collect them up! Maybe even get them a few treats for being extra special students!

Thoughts on #debating ? We think they're great, they get the class talking and give the students a chance to express themselves. But topics can be hit and miss. So check out Harry's top #ESL  debating topics! bit.ly/ESLdebatingtopics

Is testing always the best course of action? Maybe not, but check this #ESL  teacher's take on testing and how it's actually more about the teacher than the #students .
