Deli-style restaurants normally make me nervous. I find that they usually go for quantity at the expense of quality. I think Nick Varano's has managed to find the sweet spot -- lots (but not too much) of quality deli fare in a big (but not too big) sandwich. It also helps that the menu isn't your typical deli menu. You'll find plenty of classic Italian fare here as well -- bruschetta, pasta fagiole, veal, eggplant, etc. Service was a tad on the slow side.
