Half-finished socks might start attacking me from all corners.
I recently sorted my Ravelry projects to show the WIPs (works in progress) at the top. I have a few things hanging out with that designation. Hi, Birthday Socks for Matt. It's nice to see you again...

Your brainwaves as a knitting pattern.
A duo of artists and and a scientist have created NeuroKnitting. NeuroKnittingplots brainwave activity into a knitted pattern, meaning you can create a nice scarf just by thinking. Amazing! Read the...

Hooray! I don't buy much food there, but I hope this becomes a trend!

GMOs will be completely absent from the ingredients within the next year and a half.
Super store giant, Target, has announced they will be adding a new brand to their shelves—one that is made with natural health in mind. Called Simply Balanced, the brand will be on shelves soon and wi

This photo is a couple of months old, but it's one of my favorites of me and Zooey. She's content on my lap while I knit. This was only for a few minutes, but it was precious anyway.

Color opinions wanted:
What is it with me and stockinette projects? I do get a thrill out of completing complicated lace and cables. I love the way they look. I guess at this point in my life, I really love projects that...

One mile of knitting done, in just under a month.
Time flies too, too quickly. I can't believe it's already July. This month is full of fun and challenges. I have a big bite of my dissertation proposal to finish and polish before it goes to my dis...

Quick way to swatch in the round w/o double the stitches.
Here is a post about swatching, if you're into that kind of thing. I know we're often impatient and want to jump to the actual garment, but hang on there, kitten. Don't you want to make sure it wil...

since round is all knit stitches, I go one easier, if I'm doing a top down, swatch in garter stitch.

I'll be trying it on as I go, etc and if the width is right, the height is usually spot on too, so I don't carry around the back.

This is something that I wouldn't think to ask, because Z isn't really having play dates where +Matthew Petty  and I aren't present, but it's definitely something to think about in the future. Is there a gun in the home? Is it safely locked away?

My fingers will travel a mile by the end of this shawl.
Working on Nuvem is soothing. The alpaca/bamboo blend slides over my fingers and I only have to think about 8 increases every other row. I can do it while reading and mindlessness of it relaxes me....

Many parenting choices are difficult. I have to say this one was easy for me. The original study linking autism to vaccines has long been retracted. I know this is not the only reason some choose to avoid vaccines, but I think the benefits majorly outweigh the risks to my daughter and the rest of society.
