A reverse curl is a great exercise to target the lower abdominal area. Using your baby can increase resistance and incorporates them into the exercise. When you perform this exercise please keep the following in mind:
-Make sure your baby is well supported. The younger the baby the more head support they require
-Keep your own shoulders down on the ground, lifting your shoulders increases the activation of the rectus abdominus (6 pack muscles). Since many women postpartum have some abdominal separation present, flexion should be avoided
-To make the most of this move keep your knees stacked over your hips and your heels in line with your knees (90 degrees).
-Avoid lengthening the legs out in front of you.
-As you exhale draw your knees into your chest while you contract your pelvic floor muscles and transverse abdominals
-This exercise is great for moms and babies who are at least 3 months postpartum. An alternative is the heel slide :)
