Distinguished fencing coach and referee Peeter Nelis is a guest of BudaHome Apartments this weekend!
Mr. Nelis who participated in 4 Olympic Games with the National Fencing Team of Estonia, is the son of Endel Nelis the man who inspired the movie #TheFencer.
The Fencer made the Top 9 shortlist for Best Foreign Language Movie both at the #AcademyAwards and the #GoldenGlobes in 2016.
The movie tells the story of a young fencer who flees the Russian Secret Police and becomes a teacher, father figure and role model for his orphaned pupils. According to Mr. Nelis this depiction of his father's youth is mostly accurate.
Endel Nelis was instrumental in introducing fencing in Estonia and is regarded as one of the most famous coaches in his country.
Following in his footsteps, Peeter Nelis has trained a number of high-profile fencers for many years and also served as a referee.
Mr. Nelis is visiting Budapest to participate in the #FencingGrandPrix which is taking place this weekend (March 24th to 26th) at the MOM Sport complex in Budapest.
We are delighted to have Mr.Nelis as our guest and wish him and the team of Estonia a great stay in Budapest!
