Nice to see how far we've come.
When I started doing this kind of stuff, extending the disk space on a machine meant shutting everything down, opening the case, mounting the disks and then symlink-hell or reinstalling everything.
Nowadays, it's 5 clicks in VMWare followed by 5 simple commands and that's it. No downtime and certainly no opening cases or related adventures. Thank you so much LVM :-)
I've done this quite a few times now, but this time the resize also involved drbd, but that didn't really add anything to the overall complexity of the job.
Here's munin showing the results. Zero downtime, zero hardware modification, zero hassle.
What nice times we live in

The issues with cryptocat last week have inspired me to write a blog post explaining why I would personally never touch crpto: http://bit.ly/131IMo2

Another Broken Sword game is in the works - if it gets funding:
http://kck.st/O9pBC3
Broken Sword 1 - Shadows of the Templar was one of the best Adventure Games I've ever played: Amazing Characters, amazing story (it made me and my girlfriend travel to Paris after all) and excellent humor.
And you could play breakout while the installer was copying files :-)
There were three sequels, but IMHO none of them reached the class of the first one - the second one felt rushed and the last two games suffered from everything-has-to-be-3D-now syndrome.
Now we have the chance to fund another 2D episode and now that there are no publishers interfering, I have a feeling that we might get something that reaches or even surpasses the quality of the first game.
If you haven't played Broken Sword 1, you really should get one of its re-releases or maybe even the original which runs very well under ScummVM (Revolution Software even helped them to reach that point).
For me, this isn't a question of whether I back the project. For me it's a question of how much I can spare!

While working at a specific part of our product, I ran once more into issues with two wrong decisions I made 8 years ago.
This is pissing me off enough so I had to write about them in order to help others not make the same mistake.
Do note that I know better for years now - this is my lack of experience from 2004 which is biting me today.
