AR Charitable Foundation and Lingnan University co-organised “The Future Development of Insurance Industry in Hong Kong” Conference on 10 Sep 2018. With more than 600 participants from insurance and education industries, the conference aimed at exploring the challenges and opportunities facing by the Hong Kong insurance industry. We also invited Honourable Paul CHAN Mo-Po, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, the Financial Secretary of the Government of the HKSAR as the officiating guest and the keynote speaker. A team of 60 Lingnan athletics and coaches visited Fudan University for the 2018 The Fifth Taiwan Cross-Strait cum Hong Kong and Macau University Student Sports Exchange Competition. The competition has enabled the LU athletes to build up friendships with other universities. Ms Bowie LAM Po-Yee is a Lingnan alumna. One year after she graduated from Lingnan, she founded a charity organisation ‘Teen’s Key - Young Women Development Network’, dedicating to help marginalised young women. Over these years, she and her colleagues have changed the lives of vulnerable young ladies who were once left behind due to misunderstandings by the society. Lingnan University held its 2018/19 Inauguration Ceremony on 22 August to mark the beginning of the new academic year. Among the 600 freshmen who attended the ceremony to celebrate the beginning of their learning journey at Lingnan University, 11% of them are non-local degree seeking students. They come from 14 countries or regions including Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Mainland China, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Taiwan, USA and Vietnam. http://bit.ly/2wjcdGY

“Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project – Together We Love Elderly @ Tuen Mun” Appointment Ceremony organized by Yan Oi Tong Woo Chung District Elderly Community Centre was held on 17 August 2018 at Lingnan University. The project, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and partnered with Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS) of Lingnan University, aims at enhancing the age-friendliness in the community and fosters a social network to provide support to dementia patients’ caregivers and families.

In June 2018, Lingnan University (LU) joined hands with Beijing Normal University (BNU) to organise the first “Joint Humanitarian Entrepreneurship Programme” that took place in Beijing and Chengdu. This 4-week programme, supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), attracted 22 students from 11 territories, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ghana, US, UK, Israel, etc. Details: http://bit.ly/2MBN2FF
