Introduction
Online, Dave Warner is the host of the Dave's Lounge podcast, a bi-weekly selection of downtempo electronic music that is heard around the globe. Once upon a time, he was a sports blogger who wrote for the AOL Sports blog FanHouse for two years and also contributed articles to Deadspin, EPL Talk and The Run of Play.

Offline, Dave watches way too much soccer, NFL football and college basketball, supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers from afar and Carolina Railhawks in person. He goes swing dancing and blues dancing often and is a semi-regular DJ at Dance Blues Friday in Durham. He has also DJed blues dances in New York, D.C., Philadelphia, Virginia Beach, Charlotte and Charleston.

This was my second time stomping with the American Outlaws, and it was a blast. You can see me around the 2:07 mark, up front wearing sunglasses and playing the bass drum I usually play at Carolina RailHawks games, although it was hidden behind the fence for this one. We had AO members from all over NC and VA come to Cary and stand with us for this game. I even got them to sing the "There's Only One Abby Wambach" song I came up with on the fly. ("Get her the cross, she'll show you who's boss...") That made me happy.

All in all, a spectacular performance by the USWNT -- ferocious when attacking, calm and collected when defending. No question this team will be one of the favorites for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. Hopefully the attendance will get US Soccer thinking about bringing an NWSL team here. I'm in if they do.

The sad thing is just a bit of tweaking with the mechanics could totally make this a game worth playing. Horrible.

Take a very close listen around the 0:36 mark of this trailer. You hear Clara say, "Change the future," and then a voice replies, "I can't." That's Paul McGann's voice. Has anyone else picked up on that?

You sure? Doesn't sound at all like Matt. Watch the 1st trailer again, where Clara says, "You've got the power to change the future. DO IT!" I don't think she's talking to 11. Also, "Is that a new body?" Perhaps she's expecting a different Doctor to show up?

So +Brian Brushwood and +Tom Merritt encouraged me to take the Frame Rate Chicken Challenge. I took it -- and I ended up canceling my TV service with Time Warner Cable. Here's how it went down.

My new web site, What You Pay For Sports, got a mention on the TWiT network show Frame Rate yesterday. Thanks to +Tom Merritt and +Brian Brushwood for giving it a minute. (Brian's reaction after he was told that the total was "per year" instead of "per month" was interesting.)

IMHO, Dogecoin is a great alternative to Bitcoin, precisely because it doesn't take itself so seriously, and it encourages generosity rather than hoarding. We're not "investing", we're just having fun! Plus, Dogecoin has a cute dog as a mascot -- a much better mascot than the Winklevii, don't you think?

For those of you who watched #LeagueOfDenial  last night, you should keep this in mind -- if you're one of the 97,985,000 homes that gets ESPN, you're footing the bill for the NFL's $765 million concussion settlement, not to mention all the obfuscation and intimidation tactics the NFL uses to refute hard scientific evidence linking football to long-term brain damage. Perhaps it's time to #CutTheCord...

Are we tired of this whole apocalypse nonsense yet? I sure am. That's what I talk about this week as I quote Bruce Springsteen and Neil Gaiman at the top the Dave's Lounge 2012 Yearbook, our year-end look back at the songs that YOU picked as your favorites from what I played this year. That includes songs from Submotion Orchestra, Artemis, Data Romance, Delerium, Boogie Belgique, The Human Experience, and much more!

And if you subscribe to the Dave's Lounge Premium Podcast, you'll get a bonus mix that includes some more of my favorites from 2012.

Thanks for listening, and for spreading the word about Dave's Lounge! See y'all again in 2013!
