Kristin Geer founded the Cancurables Foundation to fight cancer shortly after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. She remains the Executive Director of the 501c3 nonprofit organization and is dedicated to raising money to fund important cancer research.
Kristin is an emmy-award winning investigative reporter, formerly at KSTP TV. During her career, she’s been repeatedly recognized for her work. In addition to three Emmy Awards, she’s been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and two Society of Professional Journalist’s Investigative Awards, including first place for “Cancer Cure or Con?”
Kristin left KSTP in 2005 to further her mission to raise money for cancer research. At the same time, she also started a video production company called Wall to Wall Media to create a documentary about the challenges she and her husband Brad faced in trying to build an environmentally-friendly home. Their goal was to build a "green" and "healthy" home for their family by using non-traditional, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic building materials.
In addition to the Blueprint for Green documentary show, Kristin also produced numerous other television shows including Kent Hrbek Outdoors, Cook What You Catch and the Gopher Coach's Football and Basketball Shows.
Wall to Wall Media also produced dozens of high-end HD corporate videos and commercials for companies like Cargill, Lester Building Systems, Lund Boats, Africa Jam, and KLN Enterprises. Kristin closed Wall to Wall at the end of 2010 due to the ongoing, crippling downturn in the economy.
Kristin Geer is sought out as an accomplished public speaker, both in the realm of media relations and in the area of women’s health. She currently spends much of her time reaching out to women’s groups around the country about ovarian cancer and about the need to fund research focused on developing routine screening tests for early detection. In 2007, the Angel Foundation awarded her its “Research & Education Award” for her continued efforts.
