This is an analysis of cablegate gate cables with regard to the US foreign policy regarding so called "intellectual property" especially in Sweden.

It is clearly documented, that the US successfully presses foreign legislation in favor of criminalization of information sharing and harsh prosecution thereof. The extent to which the US dictates legislation - and to which at least Sweden followed these demands - is breathtaking. The land of the free apparently does not value democratic freedoms of even close partners in the least.

There's also interesting discussion of the US' motives in the comment section. Commenters argue that the US has outsourced most capacity for industrial manufacturing to other countries, mostly southeast Asia. Having lost the capability of production defending what they believe to be their "intellectual property" is an all out economic war for the US with the whole country at stake.
