Education is the most reliable strategic investment the ‪#‎Army‬ can make. The Army University will produce ‪#‎Soldiers‬ and Civilians that are capable of tackling the wide range of ‪#‎military‬ operations required to win in a complex world. It will create opportunity for those who are transitioning into the civilian sector, making them ‪#‎SoldiersForLife‬.

For 240 years, the ‪#‎Soldiers‬, Families and civilians that make up the U.S. Army have worked as America's trusted professionals, steadfast in their commitment to the American people and to selflessly serving our nation. This morning, the ‪#‎SoldierForLife‬ team ran a 5K to celebrate the ‪#‎ArmyBDay‬.

"Know that you will always be a ‪#‎Soldier‬. You will continue to lead in your communities and serve selflessly. Not for the recognition, but because it is the right thing to do," Maj. Gen. Buchanan addressed retiring ‪#‎Soldiers‬, including Soldier For Life's Lt. Col. E. Warner, today at the Retirement Ceremony at Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall. Once a Soldier, a ‪#‎SoldierForLife‬!

Selfless service is at the core of what it means to be a ‪#‎Soldier‬--putting the welfare of others ahead of oneself. The willingness of our ‪#‎Soldiers‬--to place themselves in harm's way and to protect our nation's freedoms--is what makes us the premier all-volunteer force. This year, the U.S. Army celebrates 240 years of proud service to our nation. How are you celebrating the ‪#‎ArmyBDay‬?

"One doesn't become a ‪#‎Soldier‬ in a week--it takes training, study and discipline. There is no question that the finest ‪#‎Army‬ in the world is found in the United States." -Daniel Inouye (1948-2006), ‪#‎Veteran‬, ‪#‎MedalOfHonor‬ recipient, United States Senator

SFL enables Army, gov’t, & community efforts to facilitate successful reintegration of our Soldiers, Vets, and their Families. (Following and RTs ≠ endorsement) #Soldier4Life
Introduction

The first Soldier for Life, General George Washington, eloquently dictates that “The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation.”

Our Soldiers come from our communities and upon completion of their noble Service in the defense of this great Nation – they will return.  When they return, they bring skills, experience, and values that can further contribute to their communities.  These Soldiers live under the Army Warrior Ethos forged by blood, sweat, and tears of former Soldiers which not only makes the Army successful on the battlefield, but more importantly can make their communities better.  The Warrior Ethos: I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit, and I will never leave a fallen comrade will resonate in our Soldiers forever.  They are Soldiers for Life.

The Chief of Staff of the Army, General Odierno created the Soldier for Life effort to ensure our heroes continue as Soldiers after their Army service as leaders and civic assets, advocates of our Army, and a battle-buddy for future transitioning Soldier.
