This was the absolute best meal out I have had in a long time. There was a wide menu with dishes which all seemed appetising, and the meal I ate was delicious, innovative in its flavouring, and aesthetically very accomplished. I strongly recommend this restaurant for vegans and non-vegans alike (since I ate with two meat-eaters who also liked their food!)

Their menu is full of seasonal flavors, and all of the menu items are top-notch. My girlfriend suggested we go here on a city date last Fall (we are both vegetarian) and it was the best tasting and most well-prepared food I've ever had in my life. The cauliflower steak was absolutely ridiculous.. couldn't get enough of it and almost licked the plate clean. We came back again this past weekend and had to order up a storm.. we got the zucchini sticks and flatbread (SO GOOD) for an appetizer, Seitan Piccata and the Grilled Chili Seitan Steak for entrees, and a cannoli for dessert... everything was unbelievable! Food is all made fresh and the free samples of black rice from the chef were incredibly good. Clean kitchen visible from the dining room, very quiet and dimly lit. Great date spot. Waiter was perfect. A++++ Cannot wait to go back.

Not worth it for me. I am from Connecticut, I went to many vegan and vegetarian restaurants, and I am a big supporter of organic vegan places. I think everything was off from the beginning - the waiter was a bit snotty and gave us a cold shoulder. I wonder why...might have been because I was dressed casually - who knows. The food was disappointing from the entrees to the desert. How can one mess up cooking mushrooms?? Most of the food was bland, undercooked, and combined with a poor attitude, it was enough for me. I left my money out there but wouldn't advise ANY of my friends to go there, and I will definitely NOT be back.

Best vegan restaurant in NY I have ever been to and possibly the best vegan restaurant I have ever been to. Every item on the menu was delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The waitress was super knowledgeable; great service! We ordered about 16 items and shared! If you want top quality plant based food and are in NY than don't miss this place!

Candle 79 is a great vegan restaurant. I count it among the best places in New York City. The food is delicious and flavorful. You have to save room for dessert because the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss is simply decadent. The atmosphere is wonderful and is perfect for a romantic night out.

Food is absolutely delicious. The only thing missing from the restaurant is meat. I am a carnivore and went to not be a party pooper with some veggy friends. Beautiful place and fine service. I had a mushroom burger so good that I could give up meat!

Absolutely wonderful and delicious experience. With my diet it's often complicated to find the exact type of healthy yet yummy food I look for, but this place has just been added to the go-to list. We had the cheese platter which was decadent and I highly recommend, stuffed avocado, spinach ravioli, and some other various dishes, all of which were incredibly tasty and satisfying. Yum!

One of the best restaurants in the city, hands down. Food lovers should run to this sophisticated yet charming hub of mouth-watering eats and speakeasy drinks. Highly recommend!
