Love unraveling the mysteries of ancestry.
Active in both church and civic affairs.  President of Dutchess County Genealogical Society, Webmaster and Editor for National Association of Leavitt Families, Co-Chair of the Town of Dover Planning Board and member of many historical and genealogical societies.

I worked for many years as a construction manager, and prior to that as a freelance architectural designer.  All of my career paths, past and present, require data analysis, critical thinking, writing and graphic design.  In this way a construction project is not so very different from genealogy research.  But whereas one calls for pro-activity the other requires patience with limited or no results.  It is fairly easy to make sure the plumber arrives on a certain day and gets the job done (yes, believe it or not!) but how do you put a deadline on finding a document or link that may not even exist?

They overcharged me and then reversed the charge even though I asked him to wait before doing so so it could be done right and I would not have to wait for the refund....I wanted only the erroneous part of the charge to be reversed. He smugly overrode my requests and then when I was displeased he "apologized for the inconvenience" - but refused to handle it any other way. Smug and rude and would not listen. The workers in the shop are very good and polite but management is very smug and not service oriented in any way shape or form. I explained that I did not want to pay twice and then wait 10 days for the vendors to process a credit and would rather overpay but he simply ignored even the fact that I was speaking while he smugly went about doing just whatever he thought was best without listening. A very upsetting and stressful experience! Oh...and the overcharge...they charged me for a tire repair after telling me the tire could not be repaired and I had to buy a new one.
