Yesterday we had the great pleasure of welcoming our longtime friend mister Umeno. Umenohana constructed our Unified Learning Center and has since provided the necessary needs to maintain, run and develop the school that currently provides education for over 400 Burmese migrant children.

Human Trafficking Awareness Forum held in Bang Sak, Takuwapa District, Phang Nga Province
On July 31, 2013 FED, FED in partnership with other NGOs working in the Phang Nga area, facilitated a Human Trafficking Awareness Forum for over one hundred Burmese migrant workers and the students from FED Learning Center. Objectives of the Forum were to create awareness within the local communities about what Human-Trafficking is and how to report potential Human-Trafficking offenses to the proper authorities.
Thailand has long been known as a transit and destination hub for Human-Trafficking for both sex and labor exploitation.  Victims of the industry often include Burmese Migrants. FED has always and will continue to fight to promote Human-Trafficking awareness and rescue innocent victims from lives of exploitation.
FED also provided transportation for many of the participants to and from the Forum from six communities located throughout the province. Other participating organizations included World Vision Thailand, IOM, DAISAC and AHTD.

FED incorporates in the U.S.
At a time when international contacts are becoming more frequent, private donors, whether individuals or companies, are increasingly interested in supporting projects benefiting Burmese causes outside the United States. For that reason, FED U.S. is working to guarantee that U.S. donors wishing to support our programs in Thailand can benefit from their the local tax advantages. We have officially incorporated and are currently waiting to receive approval from the IRS as a 501c3 organization.
