Meet Matthew O'Brien of MINT Social in Scottsdale

Interview from Voyage Phoenix Magazine https://goo.gl/HGLvY9

"Social media has contributed to making us a bit dumb, lazy and arrogant. Selfies did not exist before social media and now we have a new word in our dictionary.
As a business, we decided to take this same approach to our business and therefore, we too are Dumb, Lazy and Arrogant.

– We are Dumb…like Columbo. We don’t assume, we ask many questions, we learn your story and find the true path towards success.
– We are Lazy…with data loading to maximize speed and engagement of the “mobile first” web.
– We are Arrogant (after we play Dumb). We are confident in our approach to Digital Strategy but we are not the right fit for every business. We are also humble in that it is an honor to explore if we are a fit to help grow a business online."

#FailureHacking to Digital Marketing Success - #SSDW Video

Do you look at your competitors to determine your approach to a digital marketing strategy?
Are you playing it safe with you content marketing and chasing after the same keywords that everyone else is?
In the sea of sameness, how is your brand different?

These are some questions that are presented in this first video and start of a series on Sunday Serenity in a Disruptive World, #SSDW. In this episode, #failurehacking and #truthmapping are in the spotlight along with a beautiful orange tabby cat named Laya. Laya knows serenity and disruption and I took a few pointers from her in making this video.

One thing mentioned in this video is a link to our digital marketing audit. The first businesses that respond will get a free assessment to help map out your course to a #disruptive #digitalmarketing #strategy. This is the first step towards creating #contentmarketing #experiments that leverage #failurehacking and #truthmapping.

The New Year is approaching and it’s not too soon to start thinking about how inbound marketing can help your company gain a competitive edge! Get rid of those misconceptions you may have about inbound marketing being too hard, expensive or overwhelming. Dan Tyre, HubSpot sales director and expert inbound marketer, will share trends for 2015 and explain why you’ll “get squeezed” if you don’t take inbound marketing seriously. Learn about fundamental changes in buyer behavior, why inbound has a better ROI than traditional marketing, and how inbound has a direct correlation to revenue. Hear about common mistakes we marketers make, especially when it comes to analyzing data to determine rank on search, social media, authority, content creation and overall sales and marketing effectiveness. Dan also will share several powerful examples of businesses whose inbound marketing efforts are paying off. The future looks bright, especially if you focus on what Dan cleverly calls “SMARKETING” – sales and marketing alignment. It’s a very competitive race…all the more reason for you to reserve your seats today to attend AZIMA’s October program!

ABOUT DAN TYRE
Dan Tyre joined HubSpot as a member of the original team in May of 2007, and has led the recruiting, training, and growth of HubSpots sales team with vigor. An authority on inbound marketing and sales, Dan is a regular speaker, writer, and coach to those who yearn for inbound success. His favorite topic is the importance of attitude, and he has been known to bring the house down when speaking on this topic to groups.

At HubSpot, Dan has pioneered the concept of alignment between sales and marketing known as “Smarketing,” a core tenet of inbound marketing now followed by thousands of companies around the world. He’s been instrumental in the creation and growth of several sales teams that are now thriving hives of activity at HubSpot, including the International, VAR, Emerging Business, and Spider Monkey teams (you’ll have to ask him what that last one is all about sometime).

Dan continues to inspire and teach HubSpotters as a sales trainer, as creator of the HubSpot Leadership program, as a blogger on the HubSpot blog, and as the dispenser of high fives and fist bumps whenever the opportunity arises.

Before HubSpot, Dan worked at four other startups of note: Businessland, as Area Director; ALI Technologies, as Founder & CEO; CelebraTech, as Co-Founder and VP of Sales; and Groove Networks, as Regional Manager. He was also President of Helm Software in Phoenix, Arizona, for two years, which, while not technically a startup, was still a very nice company indeed.

Dan has a BA from Colgate University. He splits his time between Scottsdale, Arizona, and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
