Well, the Internet Protocol standards include one called ESP, but it doesn't do what you think. #protolol

Hah - I know about that one!  Also, we aren't running dspam there, just amavisd-new.  Dunno if you've heard of it, but dspam is a statistical spam filter.  If I understand correctly, users will be able to forward spam to a special mailing address, allowing dspam to learn what individual users consider spam/not-spam.

Oh man http://users.ece.cmu.edu/~sangkilc/papers/oakland12-cha.pdf is freaking cool - some researchers wrote a program that scans (and creates working exploits) for programs without human intervention or analysis.  If I understand it correctly, the program combines taint checking with a novel form of emulation that allows it to comb through all the different ways a program might process user inputs - e.g., network activity, data files, environment variables, even keyboard interaction.  Really neat!

Another one for the spam filter: Emails that proclaim compliance with the CAN-SPAM act.

Dan Geer on the surveillance mentality - "The essential character of a free society is this: That which is not forbidden is permitted.  The essential character of an unfree society is the inverse, that which is not permitted is forbidden.  The U.S. began as a free society without question; the weight of regulation, whether open or implicit, can only push it toward being unfree.  Under the pressure to defend against offenders with a permanent structural advantage, defenders who opt for forbidding anything that is not expressly permitted are encouraging a computing environment that does not embody the freedom with which we are heretofore familiar."

How does the network engineer describe his neighbor's loud and obnoxious dog?  "Gratuitous barks." #protolol

Is it wrong to be excited about installing a piece of gear whose only purpose is to degrade the quality of my network connection?

Does anyone know how to add AIA and CRL information to certificates generated by OpenSSL?  It isn't obvious how to do it from the "ca" man page, although I'm guessing it has something to do with the extensions options.

My wife and I needed a dedicated office after we converted our home office into a nursery. Intelligent Office was the only virtual office space that combined high-quality services with very reasonable prices. The local franchise owners, Jerri and Kipp Seidl, focus completely on taking care of their customers quickly and efficiently. The office staff are professional, focused, and friendly. I am very happy with them all, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for office space, conference rooms, or virtual assistant services.
