I'm an old school, slightly gadget obsessed geek who is happiest when I'm slinging code, chugging Mountain Dew, listening to complex electronica and extreme heavy metal, and playing video games.

This is a ridiculously awesome live rendition of this song. Devin Townsend has become a new musical obsession for me, lately. His stuff is all over the map, yet it somehow manages to remain consistent. Well worth checking out his discography if you are into heavy metal of any kind.

Bjork on the album 'Debut' - "I started recording my album secretly, because I had pressure since 'Birthday' to do an album on my own and I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea," she explains, recalling how as soon as 'Birthday' became popular, major record labels had tried to sign Björk as a solo artist. "When I started doing these recordings, I did it all on my own and with all the people who got involved, like the engineers, brass students and Oliver Lake, I was like: Listen, there's no budget yet, if you're interested, you have to be interested for yourself and if it goes on record you will get paid. Oliver was interested and he arranged it, sent it back. I then got Derek Birkett (One Little Indian's chief) on a good day and said: Listen Derek, I want to do an album, but it's not going to be what you think it's going to be, because I am in no mood to please anyone, and it's not going to be your chanteuse, easy-to-sell album. I played him the three songs so far with saxophone and voice, continues Björk. "He liked it and said: 'Fair enough, I'll put money into it,' and had complete faith. It was very surprising to me. I thought he'd want me to do hit songs, go commercial." "I did want her to do that," Birkett confirms. "She played me 'Violently Happy', which I hated, and still do. I told her she could do whatever she wanted, because that's the way I work, but I didn't think the album would do as well as 'The Sugarcubes' first album, which did a million [worldwide]. I was wrong. It looks as if Debut will sell a million."

I've made some pretty awesome headway on the layout and design for my new blog, which will be powered by Jekyll. The layout and design are super-simplistic, and are powered by Boostrap 3, a theme from bootswatch.com and some layout ideas I got via a few Google searches for Bootstrap designs and layouts. While I am a front-end developer, I have conceded that I am not that great at creating site designs and layouts from scratch, so Bootstrap and Bootswatch are great aids in this area!

I just have a couple pages left to build, then I can finally start looking at wrapping up all the basic page creation and template coding, and finally start putting the final polish on, get it published to GitHub Pages, and start writing some awesome posts. :) I'm definitely looking forward to digging into Jekyll much deeper and playing around with AngularJS and jQuery integration, and possibly even getting familiar with Ruby enough to mess with that part of Jekyll.

+Dennis O'Hare and I had the opportunity to go see Skinny Puppy on their Down the Sociopath tour this past Saturday at Gas Monkey Live in Dallas, TX. Of course, we jumped on the opportunity and we both are insanely glad that we did, as Skinny Puppy were in absolutely rare form, playing an extremely heavy set of classics, with a couple of their heavier modern songs thrown in for balance.

Their sound was unbelievably pristine and the bass was chest-rattling heavy. And Ogre, too, was in rare form with over-the-top theatrics befitting of a classic Skinny Puppy live show. If you have a chance to see them on this tour, I highly recommend capitalizing on the opportunity, as you are sure to not be disappointed! #SkinnyPuppy   #DownTheSociopath

For us, Halloween festivities have come to a close. Now it's time to pop the cap on a beer and play some video games for a while before heading to bed. Hope everyone had a fun and safe night!
