This day 1964 we said goodbye to American composer and lyricist Cole Porter.
He began violin studies at 6yrs of age and piano at 8, he composed an operetta at 10 and saw his first published composition only one year later.
Porter composed songs for Broadway, hit musical comedies and motion pictures
lets take a listen to one of his most well known and popular songs, famous for its string of suggestive and droll comparisons and examples, preposterous pairings and double entendres!

Giuseppe (Fortunino Francesco) Verdi, born on this day (or maybe yesterday 9th, records are unclear!) 1813 was one of the greatest operatic composers.
His opera La traviata is now immensely popular and famous for its rousing ‘drinking song’ known as a brindisi (Italian for “toast” it’s a song that encourages a tipple of alcohol, take a listen and enjoy!)
