Great place to play golf. It is a challenging and fun course that remains well maintained throughout the year, including winter. Greens are always rolling quickly and the practice area is fully equipped. Best value within 20 minutes of Raleigh.

The greens at this place are some of the best in NC! Heck maybe anywhere. The staff is accomodating although I think they should enforce a tee location based upon handicaps. We followed a group that should have been playing from the forward tees as they could not hit it out of their shadows! I saw the comment below about homeowners and have to say that if you stay on the course you probably won't have much of an issue out there. Don't miss a chance to play this very testing course.

I had a very weird experience on the Neuse this week and I have to share it with the community. My Dad and I were playing a round and on the third hole we had our golf cart stolen by a teenager out for a joy ride… WHILE WE WERE ON THE GREEN! I gave chase and managed to scare him enough (I think) to ditch the cart a few hundred feet down the path. He ran through some woods. I was of course in golf shoes and he being probably thirty years younger than me it was a foregone conclusion at the time that he got away. In the karma of the universe this was incredibly coincidental and just plane misfortunate and not something anyone could foresee or prevent but my real problem with the Neuse occurred when I saw how they reacted to our phone call that someone had stolen their cart, on their course while a paying guest was playing! They really almost did not care at all. They sent a maintenance guy out to see us after about 10 minutes and he was nice enough but he did not DO anything for us. Adding insult to injury while we were talking to the lone maintenance guy I saw the kid again and he was about two hundred yards away! He was just standing on the other side of the pond between the 4th and 6th holes staring at us mockingly and every time we would make a move to make chase he would disappear (with a two hundred yard head start). My father insisted to the maintenance guy that the Neuse call the police and that we would be willing to talk to them about our experience. He said he would relay that message and definitely tell the GM that. The GM was no where to be seen. Well, we never got the punk nor did the Neuse. I am not sure what they did to find this kid since he was not exactly hiding but they brushed it aside as something they would look into. The GM did not even make it a point to come find us to see if we were all right, apologize...or anything! We had to actually flag him down at the next the Tee box as he was flying by in his cart and he was pretty much laughing it off and looked around for a pencil when we asked him if he wanted to take our names down for anything. He didn't care at all about our experience at the Neuse. In the end they were not inclined to offer us any kind of apology, let alone a refund or comps. Nothing. They got our money for the round and that was all they wanted.; our paid experience be damned. Our wallets and cell phones were in our bags on that cart! Shame on the Neuse for having such a poor understanding of customer satisfaction to not even offer an apology or do the better thing and call the cops on this budding criminal. And yes a refund would have been a nice gesture as well. Be warned that when things are going good this course is a challenging play and may be a good experience but when things get weird or you are not having the kind of experience you think you paid for you might just be on your own. I know they can't control circumstances like this and it was a crazy thing but it ruined both our day at the course and our rounds and I will absolutely not be going back to the Neuse ever again for any reason.

Gorgeous course. Challenging for mediocre golfers like me, but very fun in the wintertime. Bermuda grass and no real rough to deal with. Very nice greens and maintenance.

One of, if not the best courses I have ever played!! this is the first time I have bothered to do a review on any subject so you know I was very impressed. I agree fully with Clay's review below. I booked it online for $35.00 , they could have charged 4 times that and it would have been worth every penny.
