Hypnotherapy for the relief of Panic Attacks
I commonly use hypnotherapy to deal with panic attacks at my practice in Norwich. More and more success stories of using hypnosis for panic attacks are being reported on the internet and anxiety forums. Standard NHS therapy involves long winded conscious re-learning and painful aversion therapy which can be very hit and miss.

Panic attacks and anxiety are subconscious problems which is why hypnotherapy is so successful at stopping them. Panic attacks are the mind and body’s reaction to a threat. If we freezeInstead of running or fighting when we feel anxious we freeze. The massive build up of energy can not be expelled naturally so it manifests into a panic attack.

Panic attacks are usually bought on by anxious thinking resulting from a trauma. Panic attacks are very frightening the sufferer and account for a large proportion of suspected heart attacks in A & E departments all over the country. Fear of panic attacks prevents sufferers from leading normal healthy lives and can even lead to depression and agoraphobia in some cases. Panic attacks can be anchored to places, people or can be bought on by feeling certain body sensations like an accelerated heart beat. This is because the body experiences the same sensations when, either under threat, participating in an extreme sport, exercising or even making love. If the mind makes a connection to danger with an accelerated heart beat a panic attack may ensue.

Sometimes people who suffer from panic attacks will predict them coming on if they do certain activities and usually these self fulfilling predictions come true. When this happens it cements in their belief that they can not go to certain places or perform particular tasks. The good news is using hypnotherapy for panic attacks works quickly for the majority of people. Hypnotherapy deals with the cause of the panic attacks by changing or reprocessing negative past events and beliefs.
