How can you visit Rio and NOT stop and visit the Christ statue. Its iconic! The symbol of Rio itself. Yeah, its not the cheapest place to go but totally worth the money. I have gone several times through the years (i grew up in Rio years ago) and I feel like its getting more expensive as time goes on. There are 2 ways of getting up there, well actually 3 if you include walking/hiking up. You can either drive up or you can take the train. I would recommend taking the train. It really enhances the whole experience. The view from up there is breathtaking. You can see all of rio and beyond. The statue itself is amazing. It is huge! trully a visit worthy location not only for tourists but also for locals aswell.

View from here is amazing. Was expecting Christo to be a bit bigger, but no draw back. When you go, make sure you take the train, don't take the bus, the train is part of the experience - be sure to suit on the right hand side on the way up for the best views. In peak times there may be a wait so but your tickets and check out one of the awesome cafes a little further up the hill, inside the bus terminal for some good Brazilian food while you wait.

As a Brazilian citizen living in the US (I'm also a US citizen as I was born here) the Christ is not up to american standards for how to get to the top, by the view is amazing. You can see all of Rio from the top.

Obviously, it's one of the most symbolic view points in the entire world. It was an amazing experince climbing up all those stairs and peaking over the view for the first time. Awe struck. I did like the view from Sugar Loaf Mountain a little better but thats just my opinion. None the less one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen
