Finally got my pedal board built. Nice not having to rip everything apart to and from practice. So far I'm pretty impressed with the pedal power supply. I get zero humm, well except from the '78 distortions when I have my compression pedal on. But it's not too bad. Since I have two tuners (one in my wireless unit) I may play with putting the TU-3 at the end of the chain.

After trying several different combinations this seems to be the best pedal order for tone. When I plug in my ESP with the active EMGs the chorus in this position gets muddy. Pretty weird. Easy fix was to pull off the level by 10 degrees. (Hate active pickups). Also after spending 2 hrs at the music store comparing ODs and tube screamers I found that the OCD Fulltone blows away the Ibanez tub screamer. Pretty awesome and doesn't change the tone just a nice boost.

Pearl Export Pro Series. Remo Emperor batter heads and Remo Ambassador resonant heads on toms--12", 13" rack toms and a 16" floor tom and snare. Bass drum (22" kick) has a Remo Powerstroke head. Cymbals are Sabian Xs20's--20" ride, 18" crash, 16" crash, 14" hi-hats, 16" china, and 10" splash.

Mike, thoughts? Cost just under 1k

Yes it comes with all the cases and symbols. Wasn't too sure on the shells other than the name brand. Looks real nice and the skins on it now don't have much if any play time on them. Thanks for the look and advice bro! Hate thinking I'm getting a good deal and to find out later I was taken.

Back to the basics. Got sick of spending hours messing with my multi effects chasing the right tone. So...picked up a few basic pedals. Still waiting on my Ibanez tube screamer. Can't wait to dial it in with my 535q.

For the amp...I was needing an amp I could practice at home with but didn't want to sacrifice the tube sound. Which is challenging for a tube as they don't like to yell good at low volumes. I tried out several and was not impressed (yes I am a Marshall fan boy so perhaps that may have steered me) until I found this 40 watt tube. While 40 watts is still too much power for practicing it is much lower than my JCM800 (100 watts-is, even for me, a tad excessive for 9pm practicing lol). The DSL 40's pentode / triode switch is a nice feature for home use. It drops it down to 20 watts and surprisingly the tubes sound as good as if they were warmed to 40 watts.

The negatives I have found so far is the ultra gain 2, it is extremely muddy. Good thing I didn't buy this amp for that channel.

Overall great combo with some solid Marshall power and tones. And build quality that you would expect from a Marshall.

I'm the same. Yeah not sure what they were thinking with the pickups, looks like they had some spare SD's around. But the overall body is nice.

UPS just delivered my new ax today. The Quilted maple top is absolutely beautiful IMO. The prestige treatment frets are smooth and very fast. The hot grinders sound great but I think I may swap them out with some DiMarzio D-Sonic and an Air Norton. Or the new Petrucci signature. The low pro edge stays in tune like a beast!

Just picked up the S5570q (RBB) prestige. Very fast Wizard neck. The bridge is awesome sporting a low pro edge. Tone has some nice highs and very warm lows.. second setting from the bridge to mid has a surprising single coil strat tone. Very impressed with the hot grinders. Out plays both my prev two favorites; my Esp KH limited and yup even my Gibson Les Paul Studio deluxe ex III.

Cant say enough about this guitar, Ibanez got it all right!

+Mike Steczo I've been dusting off the rust in my fingers by playing every day. My intentions were to just write and play for myself. However, after building my pedal board back and turning up the Marshall tubes I have an huge itch to play live again. Expect ally now that the rust is almost gone. So short answer I want to real bad. Dug up some old pics of us playing some bad co and tesla also fueled my want to step out of my music closet.
