In April 2009, after a long-standing career at The New York Times, where I served as a supervising photo editor and communications specialist, I decided to dive into the field of Social Media. Never did I think that after living, eating and breathing a 24/7, 365 days a year news cycle, would I end up in a field that would rival it. Social Media is a beast, and the cycle never stops. Your business may open and close at a certain time of the day, but what people are saying about it and your industry, and rest assured they are talking, goes on day and night all around the world. So if this is the case, shouldn’t you be putting out great creative content, and most of all, listening to and engaging them? Absolutely!
My speciality is engagement. I was born with the gift of gab, but being a total extrovert does not guarantee that one will be successful in engaging people on Facebook and Twitter, or any other platform. As I always say, social media is a combination of psychology, sociology, marketing, and all around people skills 101. One can have all the bells and whistles in the world, including an ultra slick website, but simply put, there is no substitute for great creative content and quality engagement with the public at large. Thus the name, Spin It Social. I can take anything, spin it, and make it social.
