I feel an upgrade coming on from my nexus one ....

I've absolutely loved using my pre-release Galaxy Nexus phone running the new version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. It is truly beautiful hardware with incredible software.

Today in Hong Kong, our partners from Samsung took the stage with Andy Rubin, and introduced the world to the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich. Both Google and Samsung spent a lot of time getting everything right, and it really shows!

People are at the heart of Ice Cream Sandwich with an amazing new contact manager. We focused on re-inventing sharing on mobile devices. This is what I was talking about when I recently mentioned one way to think about Google+ is that over the last quarter we shipped the +, and now we’re going to ship the Google part.

There are ton of other features from super fast camera with amazing panorama mode and 1080p video to Voice Typing which transcribes text nearly instantly as you speak. You can even unlock your phone with just a smile. The screen is unbelievably nice and has 720p resolution and is a gigantic 4.65".

Now that Ice Cream Sandwich is unwrapped, the first Galaxy Nexus phones will ship worldwide starting in November. Sign up to get one, you'll love it just like I do!

How true. Without Dennis Ritchie a lot of things in the computer world would not have been possible.

Without Dennis Ritchie there would not be the C programming language. Without the C programming language there would be no Unix, and without Unix there would be no Internet, Linux, NeXT Step, Google, Mac OS X, iOS and many more...

Facebook as a company can sometimes get confused with what their product actually does, and what it wants its users to know. Maybe their engineers should tell their PR department what they are truly up to .... being you maybe, or if that's not possible maybe cloning you.

Anyway we all know its ultimately world domination? Maybe?

Just listened to This American Life - When Patents Attack. It makes me sad that as a software developer, what software and process patents have turned our industry into. Do builders, electricians, plumbers, and for that matter any other industry have these sorts of shady businesses who prey on those who actually do the work, live the hard yards, and produce something for a living?

Listen to the pod-cast, you'll be surprised how much of a farce it really is. Bring on the PATENT WARS ... only after that will government realise things need to be cleaned up or face an innovation wasteland ...

G+ lives and continues to get support from Google execs. Same cannot be said for buzz which is understandable with the success of g+. Shame though labs had to be cut along with it. There was some neat stuff going on there.

Word on the street is Microsoft appears to be going in for another dig at Yahoo. Maybe they might be successful second time round, with some help from friends.

Interested to see how this one pans out because Yahoo as a company needs some direction, even after 10 years. That says something for internet companies that reach scale. At the end of the day if you scale right you can go on for a decade and not produce something innovative and still be a significant company on the internet.
