I love the mixture of vintage and local clothing, a little pricey but sometimes you can find a good bargain. Their staff is super friendly, knowledgeable. There's also usually some good tunes being played in the store.

Magpie has a stellar selection of vintage and pretty good prices. They have beautiful items from the turn of the century through groovy threads of the 70s. They are the go-to place to find vintage shoes for both men and women. The staff is okay, sometimes they are very talkative, but other times do not interact with customers and just stay behind the counter.

I love Magpie! you should too. I don't understand what the fuss is about in other postings (with the clientel). I rarely walk into a store merely looking for customer service. I want my items. I'm not there to make friends. Besides, in such a great place like Magpie I NEED to be LEFT ALONE because there's so much to look at. Over the past 5 years I bought my collection of leggings and tights. Great selection! A few years back I would buy these 'tacky' bright earings, necklaces, and hair pins. I also Have my paisley zip bags (my mom told me they were used as overnight bags for slumber parties). LOVE THEM! My most prized item though, which I still have and use often are my Kryolon Aquacolor make up containers. TREASURE!!! This stuff is harrrrd to find in the states (being from Germany). I bought my two containers .. 4? years ago. They're barely half gone. I use them 3-4 times/week. I've called around looking for more colors no one has had it EXCEPT magpie. I haven't been in or checked to see if they still have them but I'm hopeful they do. Go to Magpie. They've got something for everyone. Magpie: PLEASE continue to get KRYOLON!! I'll be in to buy more!!

I actually really liked some of the clothes here, however i was treated so rudely after going into the dressing room (with apparently not asking first) that i didn't buy anything out of principle. I came back the next day hoping some one else would be working, and was disappointed when the same girl with short brown hair was there. She promptly told me to leave the store because i "left a pile of s*%# in the dressing room" the day before, meaning two sweaters. I will never go back to this store, and suggest you don't either.

Magpie has a special place in my heart. I don't go there too often anymore, but it's one of my favorite vintage shops in Portland and has a well-curated selection, especially for men. I remember when Magpie was a tiny place two blocks down Park, so their current space still feels like an exciting wonderland to me. I've had vintage pieces from Magpie for years and still get fresh compliments. I've also never had or seen bad or rude service.

This is a store that I can always come to to find a gift for anyone I know. I find everyone who works there amazing, always willing to help, and who have great style themselves. Anyone who wrote about snobbery on the staff's part probably came in expecting Magpie for a costume shop and not a vintage store that holds amazing treasures. I will as long as I live in Portland, will shop and tell others how awesome this store is!!!

They have a decent selection of vintage items although it is definitely priced higher than Buffallo Exchange or Red Light. The only problem I have with this place is how snobbish the employees are. You are not all that just because your thirty year old self is decked out in head to toe vintage.
