The falls at Spruce Flats. One of the best, yet little known, falls in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We had a wonderful 2.5 mile hike and nearly had the trail to ourselves. With so few visitors, there was plenty of time to shoot and wait out the lighting conditions
Bald eagle captured along the Mississippi River at Lock and Dam 14 near the Quad Cities. It was extremely cold and windy but great light. Most of the eagles have dispersed along the river because of the warm temps in late Jan early Feb but there were still about 10 at the lock.
Very overcast skies yesterday made for a bad light day. Made for a long cold day with few keepers. This was captured at Lock and Dam 14 on the Mississippi. Temps in the teens with wind chill around 3 degrees.
I titled this one "River of Roots" from our hike yesterday. With all the streams running dry, there are a lot of interesting formations now exposed. This tree was in the "Giant's Bath Tub" in the upper canyon of the Dells area at Matthiessen State Park in Illinois.
