Found this pretty funny. But actually he's wrong, that's not how words work. (At least not if you're a descriptivist.)

"Well, I don't believe in god, but I don't believe in Richard Dawkins either..."

It's easy to see why people might not want to describe themselves as a member of a group - socialist, feminist, atheist, whatever - when those groups have vocal radical wings who say or do things that you don't like.

One problem with 'feminist' as a label is that it doesn't just describe someone who believes in the equality of men & women, it's also used for an academic branch and a political movement, neither of which I would want to be associated with.

For more stories like this, like Slate on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. The Washington Post published a story so horrifying this weekend that it would stop your breath: “The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed...

+Videoorchard As I understand it the only differences from existing batteries are size, production cost and efficiency. It's just that those factors matter a lot.

Dear diary,

Today in mere seconds, my perception of public toilets has been changed forever. I love the internet (except for the part where people might access you).

Cheers,
Me.

If you thought Guitar Hero dumbed down guitar playing, wait until you see what this does to piano! (Try it, though, it's fun!)

http://touchpianist.com/
Touch Pianist is a musical toy / instrument that allows the user to perform hard-to-play classical piano music favorites (from composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Satie, Debussy to name a few) just by tapping the rhythm of the piece's particular sound events on a computer keyboard or a touch screen.

Bea's Twitch stream is doing pretty well. 60 followers, occasionally 10+ concurrent viewers. But you know you've really made it as a streamer when every time you ask for music requests... someone asks for Darude Sandstorm! ;-)

From now on, whenever I get asked about success, I'll be tempted to misquote:
"You know you're on the right track when you're getting trolls."

(Thanks for the bulletproof defence by the way: "I'm not trolling, I'm keeping entrepreneurship spirits high!")

David Cameron has made another gaffe on the election campaign trail – this time saying how election was a “career defining” moment when he meant to say “country defining”.

Back in 1992 I named the dinosaur-like monster in Dozer a "spinosaurus". As a joke. Now it's a real thing! :-O

http://www.ted.com/talks/nizar_ibrahim_how_we_unearthed_the_spinosaurus
A 50-foot-long carnivore who hunted its prey in rivers 97 million years ago, the spinosaurus is a "dragon from deep time." Paleontologist Nizar Ibrahim and his crew found new fossils, hidden in cliffs of the Moroccan Sahara desert, that are helping us learn more about the first swimming dinosaur — who might also be the largest carnivorous dinosaur of all.

+Mo Holkar Aha! My reading of early C20th German paleontologists is evidently sadly deficient! (OK, OK, it's mainly that the Ladybird Book of Dinosaurs didn't have one.)
