[FIXED] Fellowes DM8C Paper Shredder Never Stops
Fellowes DM8C A long while back I bought a Fellowes DM8C paper shredder. Over the years, it has shredded just about anything I've fed it. It is designed with an infrared LED emitter and receiver in its mouth, whose job it is to trigger the shredder's motor ...

Chrysler 3.6L Pentastar V6 Oil Filter Replacement (2014 Jeep Wrangler/JK)
Last weekend, when I went to perform an oil change on my 2014 Wrangler, I could not figure out where the oil filter was!  After consulting the interwebs, I was delighted to discover that the 3.6L V6 has a replaceable element oil filter, much like the 2.4L I...

Unveiling the secrets to adding permanent color to PVC pipes that won't flake off.
PVC is cheap, common, easy to work, and easy to join. Only problem is, it's kinda ugly, mostly because it only comes in white, gray, black, and clear.

Scanning Double-Sided Documents With a Single Sheet Scanner Under Linux
I like to keep documents.  Receipts, statements, manuals, pamphlets, you name it.  I file things away in hanging folders for later reference. Since the kiddos came along it has gotten harder and harder to make time for all of this organization, and with a h...

"Obsolete" Yamaha/Mando Alternator Drop-In Replacement
My dad has a 1993-ish Sylvan Barritz that he purchased new.  The boat gets used only about 3-4 months out of the year, and pretty infrequently at that.  Still, our family has gotten almost 25 years of enjoyment out of this boat with relatively little troubl...

Dell Inspiron 3520 Wifi Upgrade (Goodbye, Broadcom 43142)
I bought this laptop in 2012 for $399, and the biggest complaint I've had about it, by far, is the Broadcom 43142 Wifi card in Linux.  I even completely switched distros once to get the updated BlueZ Bluetooth stack, hoping for better Bluetooth support.  No...

Rescued a Motorola Droid Razr M from the Junk Drawer
I was up in northern Michigan visiting my parents over the Christmas holiday, and I discovered that my mom had placed a Motorola Droid Razr M in a junk drawer.  I remember her being extremely frustrated with this phone, and the few times I looked at it for ...

+Techmoan !! That wifi password entry was a total tease to us old guys, and I'm a little green that I didn't think of something that clever for my own network!! 😊 You do a great job with your reviews and your editing.

Protip:  sshfs works great from Linux desktop --> Raspberry Pi.  I've mounted a source directory on Rpi with sshfs and I can edit files from my desktop using gvim (with nice colors, mouse, etc.).  This is much better than what I was doing before.   #raspberrypi   #linux   #ssh   #sshfs

Excellent bread, one of the best sub shops around. A small size sub is PLENTY for most humans. I like the Godfather on Everything bread. The hot pepper blend is also awesome.

This is a great place. Lunch is served quickly and service is excellent. The menu is extensive and prices very reasonable. I knock off one star because while this is an authentic place, the lunch options are pretty Americanized, your meat options are typical chicken or beef. (However, If you ask al pastor tacos "Mexican style" with only cilantro and onions they will do it for you!) I found the entrées to be more authentic, so while I recommend this place for lunch or dinner, try it for dinner too. Overall excellent I just wish the lunch options had more meat options than the usual chicken or beef. I still highly recommend!

Very good BBQ and really cool atmosphere. Service is excellent. Personally I would skip the sandwich options and have BBQ. I had a sandwich there for lunch, and while it was good, I regretted not getting straight up pork or brisket. They have several of their own BBQ sauces at the table, all of which are excellent. The only negative and this place is that it is so popular it can be difficult to get in.

If you are tired of the thick greasy pizza around Detroit, you will have a hard time finding much better than 112. They make as close to a perfect pizza as you can get. Friendly staff. I'm too far away to get takeout from them, so to get me there for dinner they would need to offer beer.

If you like burgers and haven't been here I think you're missing out on one of the best. The burgers are grilled on a hot flat top, perfectly done with nice crisp crust. The bun is also toasted on the grill. They have whatever topping you might want, except curiously they don't have olives (is that a Michigan thing?). The burger is topped as you want it and then wrapped in foil and tossed in a brown paper sack. The fries are also as good as they get, fried in peanut oil to perfection. If you order a small fry you'll get enough fries for two people. Definitely one of the usual places in my lunch rotation with work buddies.

This place is really cozy, with lots of beautiful woodwork inside. The bar has several Michigan beers on tap. The burgers are huge and really good. All of the burgers are named for Detroit streets/places. As a bonus the have waffle fries as an option with your burger; something you don't see too often in Michigan (seems common in WI though). Service has always been great, I've been here multiple times. Great place.

Wow I was pleasantly surprised at how good their BBQ is! Excellent in-house smoked pork! They also have a decent beer selection and if you sit on the deck outside, you get a great view of Black Lake. They also have gas if you need to fill up your ATV, motorcycle, or snowmobile.
