Harlem Public, the name that pretty much anyone-who's-someone-who's-also-been-above-72nd-street knows. Harlem Public is a staple in West Harlem / Hamilton Heights, and that is proven nightly by the large crowds that gather outside it's doors waiting to get in - although there are four other bars within a 3 block radius (one literally next-door). What brings people coming back to Harlem Public for a chance to squeeze in through it's art-deco doorway and into it's booze-soaked floors, past it's many tables, ample bar seating and cheap drinks at the bar? ... Wait, I just listed enough reasons to go. Are you here yet?

Popcorn and beer is amazing. Many food items are great including the hamburgers and fried pickles. A little salt in your mouth will make you drink a little bit more beer.

I love this place. Great atmosphere. Very chill staff that don't beg for tips with low-cut tops or resting-bitch-face intimidation. The atmosphere is diverse and unique and, despite the fact that it is often crowded, getting lost in conversation is easy, the beers are amazing, and the food is delicious. Peanut butter burger - so good!

Harlem Public may be just a bit rowdy compared to other local bars, but the extensive selection of booze offered, along with the tasty and reasonably priced food make for a great place to begin or end any night. The über-rustic interior is modestly charming, while the dark ambience makes for a comfortable setting. Please take advantage of the selection of both domestic and imported brews (I brave the Firestone IPA whenever I'm feeling just a tad bit bold), and you can never go wrong with pairing them with a Public Burger!!!

Ended up here since I have a friend who lives nearby. Great spot! Selection of craft beers is really good. Tried buffalo chicken wings; fingerlickin good. My friend had peanut butter burger (not sure if that's absolutely correct name) and it looked just amazing. Interesting combo if you're into that. Overall great vibe, positive and laid back staff and a lot of people although it was Sunday night.

This place is always packed! It's small. It's crowded. It's in a neighborhood where you have no alternatives. So you go early and it's still crowded. But when you can sit and eat one of their amazing, unique burgers complimented by their constantly rotating draft beers it's perfect. Wondering who could open a competitive place to relieve some of the pressure of demand in the area...
