It’s “worth the trip” to these Americans that “emphasize local” ingredients in “inventive”, yet “without-pretense” “comfort food”, offering “amazing” cocktails and, oh yeah, “did somebody say brunch?”; the “beautiful setting” and “standout” service are two other reasons it “gets crowded”, “so go early.”
Jack Allen's is a family favorite. My wife and I find ourselves here about once a week. And considering we try to limit how much we eat out, that is very high praise. All of their food is delicious, my personal favorite is the Green Chile Burger. The staff is awesome, we have 2 very young children and the staff is always happy to accommodate us. Be warned it gets very busy after 6pm on most nights, Friday and Saturday night seem to be the busiest.
The high rating comes from these guys doing everything right. Think of it as a chilis that uses local high quality ingredients and always makes dishes consistently. Everything on the menu is good and they have dishes for all tastes. This isn't fine dining this is a great dinner at a good price and you won't leave disappointed. Also the salads are great and its hard to get a good salad in Austin.
Chicken fried steak was awesome. My girlfriend spilled her drink but they were still very courteous.
Also, their Sunday brunch buffet is amazing. Lots of selections...and healthy too!
Been here many more times and the food and service is still superb!
