Fresh, locally sourced food, great cocktails and happy hour - from Chef Jack Gilmore. A real taste of Austin - Local in source, Texan in spirit.

Great service and kid friendly. In the cold weather it was a bit unpleasant to be by the side doors going to the outside bar as it let a lot of cold air in. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

We stopped at the one in Round Rock and it was awesome. Robert, our waiter, was so good and knew the menu very well. The food was terrific....appetizer and entrees. The pimento cheese taster at the beginning is delicious and very smart thing to do. It made me want to buy some pimento cheese to take home! Thanks for a great experience!! We will be back for sure. Y'all this buffet is as good as it gets. ANYTHING you could possibly want for breakfast is lined up on a table and just waiting for you to get at it. All super fresh, all super delicious, and the best part you ask? The wait staff is so kind and genuine. They honestly want you to come and have a great time. If you make a reservation it is super quick and easy. Otherwise you will be looking at some serious wait time, especially for larger parties. I just went again recently for my boyfriend's birthday and I was so impressed that our reserved table was right by the food and framed by a beautiful window. It definitely made the date more romantic and exciting. We love Jack Allen's!

Jack Allen's Kitchen is my favorite restaurant outside of the inner Austin bubble. Almost every ingredient used is fresh, seasonal, and local (they will even tell you which farm it came from). The signature items to try are the daily specials and the chicken fried everything plates (try the NY strip). The owner is an Austin cooking legend and the father of the son who has both Barley Swine and Odd Duck and you can see him there all the time.

My go-to dish is the chicken fried beef ribs but for a quick lunch I went with the sloppy jack. I am high five-ing myself for this choice. I can taste the sweet chopped beef rib and the buns were soft. Also I recommend going with sweet potato fries dipped in the jalapeño mayonnaise. Amazing. SCD - none at this moment. Off the ScD wagon at this point unless I get a salad. I really don't like salads.

I enjoy going here as much as I can. I dont live in Austin but when I am in Town I love Jack Allen's. Their Red Chili Fries are great. Everything I have had is great!

Oh my goodness, their Sunday brunch buffet. I wore a maxi skirt with a lot of stretch just for this occasion. A lot of butter and cheese and carbs and meat, but still some green chiles and tomatoes thrown into some of it. They bring out fresh biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and eggs any style for the table. Overall food was really solid, but I didn't find one dish to be that amazing. I was really impressed by the quality and how frequently refilled buffet trays (sometimes you never know how long those things have been sitting out). Service was really great, and our server was super sweet.

I went to Jack Allen's Kitchen for the first time last night. It was packed, which surprised me since it was a Wednesday, but we were seated fairly quickly. The food and cocktails were unique and delicious (especially the heirloom tomato caprese salad!) and our waiter, Eric, was one of the best waiters I’ve had in Austin. He was nice, professional yet would roll with jokes, and he knew just how often to check in with us. I was already SO impressed with the restaurant, but before we left I asked for our waiter to box up the small piece of chicken fried chicken I hadn't eaten. All of a sudden, a chef or manager – not sure – came up to our table to let us know the chicken had accidentally fallen on the ground and that if we could wait a few minutes, he would cook a whole new entrée for us to take home. Obviously, I was very impressed with everything about the restaurant and will definitely be back soon!
