As the centre of several different empires, the number of historic and religious monuments and buildings in Istanbul is staggering. One of the city's most famous landmarks is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Built between 1606 and 1616, it is popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior. Within a few minutes of arriving in the city this evening & offloading my bags in my hotel room I was down in the mosque’s central courtyard, the biggest of all the Ottoman mosques. I didn't visit the interior (it was closed to non-Muslims) but will do tomorrow, & probably more than once. It’s the primary reason I wanted to return to the city.
The common attraction in jungles of Sabah. Danum Valley is one of the deepest jungle in Borneo. (just half an hour from home, and 3 hours drive into the jungle). Been there, done that (of course) and the view from up there is breathtaking. #sabah
